The whale

Carved from a single block of cedar of Lebanon, this sculptural bench takes the shape of a whale, drawing inspiration from the world of Carlo Collodi’s The Adventures of Pinocchio. The story becomes a starting point for bringing wonder into everyday spaces through an object that invites both physical exploration and imaginative play.

Soft, rounded forms invite children to sit, touch and explore. The grain, knots and distinctive scent of cedar make each bench unique, offering a tactile and sensory experience that connects children with natural materials.

Designed for libraries, museums, hospitality settings and public spaces, the bench brings together rest, play and interaction. It can become a place for shared reading, the starting point for an imaginary adventure, or a meeting place for children and adults. Its recognisable form leaves room for different uses, encouraging children to interpret the object freely and turning moments of waiting into opportunities for discovery.
